Nearly 2 million PLN for two roads in the municipality of Grodków. Silesia, the wind farm operator, has supported the renovation of local infrastructure

Ignitis Renewables has co-financed the renovation of two county roads running through Bąków, Młodoszowice, and Kolnica, which are located near the Silesia I and Silesia II wind farms. The investment, valued at nearly PLN 1.9 million, is part of the company’s long-term cooperation with local communities.

The company supported the modernization of sections of county roads DP 1501O and DP 1502O in Brzesko County. These routes are essential for the daily lives of residents and local transportation, and are located near the company’s projects.

Long-term presence and responsibility

The construction and management of a wind farm involve the investor’s long-term presence in a given location. For Ignitis Renewables, supporting the development and maintenance of local infrastructure is therefore one of the elements that aligns with the company’s approach to an active presence in the regions where it carries out its projects.

“When implementing our projects, we plan for a long-term presence in a given region from the very beginning. This is reflected not only in the development of green energy but also in our commitment to issues important to local communities. We are committed to being a good neighbor and partner that genuinely supports the development of the places where we operate,” says Jacek Wojerz, COO and member of the management board of Ignitis Renewables in Poland.

Representatives of the local government view the wind farm operator’s commitment positively. As Jacek Monkiewicz, Starosta of Brzesko County, explains, maintaining the county road network requires constant planning and phased implementation of work. “Maintaining and modernizing county roads is one of the most important, but also the most costly, tasks of the county government. That is why any good cooperation that allows us to effectively rebuild and improve road infrastructure following completed projects is of great importance to us. “I am glad that, together with Ignitis Renewables and the Grodków Municipality, we were able to renovate important sections of roads serving residents, local businesses, and daily transportation. This is an example of a partnership-based approach and responsibility for our shared space,” he emphasizes.

The Mayor of Grodków, Miłosz Krok, shares a similar view of the collaboration. “The local government’s cooperation with a partner that is present in the region and understands local needs allowed us to efficiently carry out the planned work. This is an example of action based on dialogue and shared responsibility for our immediate surroundings,” he says. “Road modernization is a key element in improving the infrastructure that residents use every day,” he adds.

Scope of work and financing

The scope of the road renovation included milling the pavement and laying a bituminous overlay along with earthen shoulders. These are works related to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the technical condition of the road infrastructure. The works were carried out from April 2025 to March of this year, and the project was also co-financed by the Brzeg County Office and the Grodków Municipality. Ignitis Renewables’ contribution to the road modernization amounted to PLN 1,880,000, which accounted for nearly 80% of the total project cost of PLN 2,380,613.

Impact on local budgets

Ignitis Renewables’ presence in the region also translated into tangible revenue for the Grodków municipality’s budget. During the power plant’s operation, the owner pays property tax annually on the Silesia I and Silesia II wind farms. In 2025, this generated nearly 10 million PLN, and in 2026, it will exceed 11 million PLN. This is money that the local government will be able to allocate to finance local investments, public services, or other projects it decides to support.

Support for local communities

For several years now, the Ignitis Group has also been running a financial support program for local communities, aimed at organizations operating near its facilities. Between 2023 and 2025, the company allocated over 2.5 million PLN to this initiative in Poland, funding projects in the areas of safety, sports, culture, social support, and energy efficiency.

Last year, nine initiatives received support, and the total value of the funds provided amounted to over PLN 821,000. A record number of applicants applied for the fourth edition of the program. Support was granted to projects implemented in Grodków, Jędrzejów, Kolnica, and Stary Grodków—towns located in the vicinity of the Silesia wind farms. Among the funded initiatives were, among others, the replacement of old windows in the building of the Grodków Association of People with Disabilities and Their Friends, equipping the Volunteer Fire Department in Kolnica and Stary Grodków, the purchase of a mobile stage for the Culture and Recreation Center in Grodków, the purchase of sportswear for the UKS Olimp sports club, efforts to reduce the number of stray cats and dogs through spaying and neutering, as proposed by the Grodków Association for Animal Assistance “Misiek,” and the modernization of the multi-purpose sports field in Grodków.
