In December 2025, Ignitis Polska signed an agreement with Łódź Purchasing Group (ŁGZ) to launch a new model for purchasing electricity for 2026. Instead of a one-off purchase of the entire volume at a fixed price, Łódź and the entities affiliated with ŁGZ will purchase energy in tranches, depending on current needs and prices.
Ignitis Polska won the tender announced by the Łódź local government for the purchase of energy in 2026. On December 5, 2025, Adam Pustelnik, Deputy Mayor of Łódź, and Maciej Kowalski, CEO of Ignitis Polska, signed an agreement enabling the introduction of a tranche-based energy purchase model.
The city of Łódź and entities affiliated with the Łódź Purchasing Group will purchase energy in short time intervals, using current quotations on the Polish Power Exchange. If prices on the Polish Power Exchange fall, the city will be able to purchase part of its energy needs at a lower price or, based on forecasts, wait for a more favorable offer.
“We are introducing a model that will give Łódź greater control and the opportunity to purchase energy when it is cheapest. This is a real saving for the city and its entities, and at the same time a step towards professional energy management in local governments. This is the most important agreement of its kind in Poland,” emphasizes Adam Pustelnik, Deputy Mayor of Łódź.
The agreement between Ignitis Polska and the Łódź Purchasing Group is not only a contract, but also a partnership with the city and its residents. Ignitis Polska will supply energy and support the region's energy transition.
“We are delighted to be present in a city that sets an example for other local governments, especially in the context of the cPPA agreement for the purchase of green energy planned for 2027. The agreement between Ignitis Polska and the City of Łódź is an example for other local authorities of how to optimize energy costs through professional management,” adds Maciej Kowalski, CEO of Ignitis Polska.
The transaction was prepared by the sales team led by Artur Dembny.
